The 15-member team was led by Shubman Gill, with KL Rahul as vice-chief.

Several players were missing from the West Indies’ ODI squad due to a clash with the Asian Games. While these players are expected to return for the upcoming five-match ODI series in New Zealand, some members of the current squad could be on the sidelines. He was recalled for the home series against the West Indies, but his last ODI pearance before this recall was in the series against New Zealand in January 2026. Jadeja was left out of the starting XI after two games in the West Indies series and barely contributed with bat or ball. With Axar Patel and Washington Sundar both expected to return to the ODI team after the Asian Games, it could be difficult for the left-arm all-rounder to retain his place in the team for the New Zealand tour.

Jurel has mainly established himself in Test cricket at the international level and his ODI opportunities have been limited. Ishan Kishan is expected to return to the team after the Asian Games and his return could rule Jurel out of the New Zealand tour. Kishan was an integral part of India’s series against Afghanistan and England and could push for a place in the middle order, which would threaten Jurel’s chances.

Auqib Nabi Auqib Nabi (Credit: Alex Broadway/for Surrey CCC) Auqib Nabi, the right-arm medium-pace bowler from Jammu and Kashmir, has received his maiden ODI call-up for the West Indies series. He had already been named in India’s Test squad for the Sri Lanka tour in August 2026 without making his Test debut on that trip. Nabi received his ODI c in the second match in Guwahati on September 30 but failed to take a wicket on debut.

The West Indies team also included Mohammed Siraj and Gurnoor Brar as pacers and with Jasprit Bumrah expected to return after the Asian Games, Nabi could find it difficult to retain his place on the New Zealand tour.
