Asif Afridi celebrates after getting rid of Sahibzada Farhan, Rawalpindiz vs Multan Sultans, PSL 2026, Karachi, ril 21, 2026 The PSL will face the IPL for the third consecutive year as its 12th edition from March 18th to May 2nd, 2027. The tournament was held in February and March from its inceon in 2016 until the 2024 edition, but had to be postponed to the May window from 2025 due to ICC tournaments – the Champions Trophy hosted by Pakistan last year and the T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka this year.
Walee Technologies claimed that most advertisers exhausted their marketing and television advertising budgets during the holy month of Ramadan, leaving little room for broadcasters. The last two PSL seasons took place after Ramadan and next year’s edition will also take place after this month, starting in early February and continuing until early March. The January-February window was considered logistically unviable as Punjab, home to three of the PSL’s four traditional venues – Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi – experienced harsh winters during these months and visibility was severely affected by fog. During the meeting, the board failed to reach consensus on the window and it is understood that the PCB subsequently sought the preference of the eight franchises via email.
The majority voted for the March-May window. The January-February window was considered logistically unviable as Punjab, home to three of the PSL’s four traditional venues – Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi – experiences harsh winters during these months and visibility is severely affected by fog. This was also deemed inpropriate as the end of the tournament was scheduled to fall in Ramadan, which was also the case for the 2024 edition.
The CPC press release did not mention the locations. The tournament has been held primarily in Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi since its full integration into Pakistan in 2020, having previously been hosted or co-hosted by the United Arab Emirates. The PCB added Faisalabad and Peshawar as two new venues for last year’s edition, but had to limit PSL 11 to Lahore and Karachi due to government fuel conservation measures in the wake of the West Asia crisis.
This edition was held behind closed doors, with the exceon of the final.
