The contract runs until the end of the 2028 season. The contract begins on November 1, 2026. Brown is the youngest Lancashire Academy graduate to progress through the professional ranks.
A product of the county’s age group system, he joined the Lancashire Academy in the winter of 2025 and has since been rewarded with opportunities in the second eleven this season, impressing with the ball and demonstrating his skills with the bat in T20 cricket. He plays club cricket for Leigh CC and first took up the game at junior level with Monton CC. “I’m really proud to sign my first professional contract with Lancashire, especially because I’m a local.
I’ve worked hard to get here, but it’s just the beginning and I know I have to keep working hard. Having the opportunity to train with and share a locker room with some of the best and most experienced players in the country is something I am very excited about. I’m looking forward to learning, developing and hopefully getting the chance to contribute,” Brown was quoted as saying by Lancashire Cricket.
Brown was also selected to represent the north of England in the prestigious Super 4 competition in 2025, where he impressed with his pace, further highlighting his potential as a developing fast bowler on the county course. Head coach Steven Croft has expressed his delight at Brown signing a professional contract, highlighting the young player’s progress in the academy and second eleven as key factors in securing this opportunity. “We are delighted that George has signed his first professional contract with Lancashire.
He has impressed throughout his time at the academy and with the second eleven when given the opportunity and he deserves the chance. The club prides itself on developing young talent and George is another exciting young fast bowler on our journey. He has a lot of potential and will add quality to an already exciting speed bowling group,” said Croft.
