(Photo by Maynard Manyowa/News Images/NurPhoto via ) India will play the 2nd T20I of their five-match home series against West Indies at the JSCA International Cricket Stadium, Ranchi on October 9, 2026.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is part of the squad for this series but was not included in the starting XI for this match. IND vs WI 2026: Draw Update The draw took place before the match with the visiting team entering the field first. Indian ctain Shreyas Iyer confirmed at the toss that his side would field an unchanged XI since the opening game on October 6 in Lucknow.
IND vs WI 2026: Why doesn’t Sooryavanshi play in the 2nd T20I? Sooryavanshi was also not part of the playing XI for the 1st T20I and the decision to retain the same XI means he remains out. The top spots in the Indian batting order are occupied by Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson, leaving no room for Sooryavanshi, who is a top-order batsman.
West Indies made one change for the 2nd T20I with Gudakesh Motie replacing Matthew Forde. IND vs. WI 2026: What did the candidates say? Shai Hope, West Indies Ctain: (on why he played first) Yes, absolutely.
We all know this. Also, given the T20 cricket and the way the West Indies have played, we feel comfortable in the hunt. But we have to look again at the conditions we are playing in here in India.
Since it is already a bit damp, it will get worse as the evening goes on. We’ll just try to put them under pressure with the ball and then chase them away. It’s about learning from the mistakes we made in the first game.
Especially against a quality side like India, you can’t really give them too many chances. We need to make sure we put this game behind us quickly and come back stronger today. Forde is out, and Motie is in.
Everyone will probably try their luck on this tour. Shreyas Iyer, India Ctain: Well, we would have thought about bowling first too. But of course you have to adt to the conditions as quickly as possible.
It’s a pleasant evening and there’s a bit of dew, so hopefully it stays that way in the second round. We’ve just talked about maintaining our standards throughout the 40 overs we play. We want to make sure we are fully focused on our proach.
As mentioned before, we want to continue to raise our standards every time we step on the field. We want to challenge ourselves to continue to improve and ensure we win more games (due to the team’s winning habit). We’re going with the same team.
