He was a prolific goalscorer in the One-Day Cup but averaged just 23.48 in 15 County Championship games for Hampshire and has now agreed to move to his third county. “I am delighted to be joining Middlesex, a club that is moving in a positive direction with extremely talented young players,” Orr said.

“It’s a new beginning for me and I’m looking forward to competing in all three formats and continually making a difference in the team.” Middlesex head coach Peter Fulton said he was “delighted” to sign Orr. “He is a very talented player who has already proven he can succeed at this level of cricket,” Fulton said. “We see real potential in his game and believe a fresh start at Middlesex can help him score big points again and provide more competition for places in our top flight.” George Bell led the Lancashire rearguard at Old Trafford, Lancashire vs Kent, County Championship, Division One, Old Trafford, May 5, 3024. Two more counties announced new signings on Wednesday.

Wicketkeeper George Bell signed a two-year contract with Essex after a successful loan move from Lancashire last month and all-rounder Ben Mike agreed a deal with Glamorgan after his contract with Leicestershire expired. Bell, a former England under-19 goalkeeper, has signed an emergency loan deal with Jordan Cox (England), Michael Pepper and Simon Fernandes (both injured) all unavailable. He made three half-centuries during the championship run as Essex narrowly avoided relegation and was named the club’s Player of the Month for September.

“I’m delighted to be signing with Essex permanently for the next two years,” he said. “It’s an exciting opportunity that I want to grab with both hands and I can’t wait to get back out there with the boys before the 2027 season… I believe it’s an environment that will help me develop my game and hopefully contribute to Essex’s wins and trophies.” Mike, who also played for Yorkshire, was in the Leicestershire team in all formats last year. “I’m really excited to be joining Glamorgan and starting this new journey in my career,” he said.

“This is a club with a proud history but the recent successes, ambition and direction of the club are very exciting.” Elsewhere, Somerset announced that Thomas Rew – who recently received his first international call-up in Australia for the upcoming England T20Is – has signed a new contract with the club until the end of the 2029 season.
