Prasidh Krishna out of ODI series, BCCI gives updates on Indian team (Source: Alex Davidson/) A hamstring injury has ended Prasidh Krishna’s participation in the five-match ODI series against New Zealand, with the BCCI confirming the team changes on October 30, 2026. The selectors concluded that Prasidh needed additional recovery time and better management of the workload and therefore ruled him out of white-ball games completely. Prasidh will undergo a Return to Play (RTP) test and if he passes this test, he will be ready to join the senior team for the third four-day match against New Zealand A.
This route would give him time to play a competitive game before the start of the two-Test series. Mohammed Siraj, on the other hand, has been assigned to the Indian senior team for the four-day match starting October 31, 2026, after which he will also be included in the senior national team squad for the third four-day match. Four batters have been included in the India A squad for the October 31 match: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudharsan, Devdutt Padikkal and Yash Rathod.
Nitish Kumar Reddy will remain in the senior ODI squad for the opening ODI at Eden Park in Auckland on November 4, 2026, before returning to the India A program after that match. Why did India name two separate ODI teams for this series? The five-match ODI series between India and New Zealand is scheduled from November 4 to 15, 2026.
Since the India A schedule runs concurrently with the senior tour, the BCCI has divided the ODI team into two groups covering different phases of the series. What is the larger context of the India A program of this tour? India A’s four-day match against New Zealand A serves as direct preparation for the subsequent two-Test series.
Basin Reserve in Wellington will host the first test from November 19, 2026, while Hagley Oval in Christchurch will host the second test from November 27 to December 1, 2026. Dhruv Jurel keeps the Indian A team safe for the October 31 match and also keeps the wicket while Kumar Kushagra soon takes the second wicket. Siraj’s brief stint with India A before moving to the senior team for the third four-day game reflects the BCCI’s intention to keep him in rhythm ahead of the Tests.
