Jangoo’s second Test century, in his tenth innings, formed the backbone of their 235 for four at stumps. He remained unbeaten on 111 off 171 balls with eleven fours and two sixes, the second of which got him to the three-figure mark during the third session. Jangoo added 131 for the fourth wicket with debutant Kevin Wickham , who made 61 off 145 balls.

He then put up an unbroken 77-run stand for the fifth wicket with Justin Greaves , unbeaten on 35. West Indies suffered several blows early in the morning, even before the match started. They lost John Campbell and Tagenarine Chanderpaul to viral fever, which required them to send Joshua Da Silva to open the innings for the first time in his Test career.

Taskin Ahmed made life a little more difficult when he burst through Brandon King, flattening his middle and leg stumps, in the fifth over. Mahmud responded with Kavem Hodge’s wicket in the next over, after giving him a work-over leading up to the dismissal. Hodge left the ball on length, as it clipped his off bail.

Taskin then removed Da Silva for 12, after he missed an in-ducker and was out lbw. Jangoo hardly allowed Bangladesh back into the game, playing well-timed drives and pulls. Wickham was more proactive after lunch, going after Taskin, while Jangoo continued to attack at his end.

Taskin Ahmed struck twice in the first hour, Bangladesh vs West Indies, 2nd Test, Sylhet, 1st day, November 5, 2026 He started the second session with a flat-batted pull off Taskin, before launching Nayeem Hasan for a powerful six over midwicket. In the same Nayeem over, Wickham also reached his half-century. Desperate for a breakthrough, Mahmud went on a short-ball barrage against the two batters, even producing a caught-and-bowled chance off a miscued pull shot.

Mahmud though couldn’t grab the chance with Jangoo on 68. But after a few overs of regular short balls, he bowled a full one angled in from over the wicket, which Wickham missed and was bowled. Justin Greaves started confidently by breaking a 45-ball boundary duck with a straight drive off Mahmud.

Jangoo continued his flow after tea as well, carting Taijul, Taskin and Mehidy Hasan Miraz for boundaries. He reached his century in grand style, blazing Taijul over wide long-off for his second six. Play was then stopped twice, the first a 35-minute break, and the second one with 22 minutes left of scheduled play.
