Harry Brook will win England a white-ball trophy, says Michael Vaughan
Cricknation Update: Michael Vaughan says that Harry Brook will give England the white ball trophy (Source: Philip Brown/) Former England ctain Michael Vaughan has expressed full confidence in Harry Brook’s ability to play a decisive role in giving England the white ball trophy.
The former England ctain underlined his belief that Brook has the quality required to win major honors for the national team in limited-overs cricket. Brook, aged 26, currently holds the position of England white-ball ctain following Jos Buttler’s decision to step down following England’s group stage exit from the ICC Champions Trophy. This point reflects the national selectors’ confidence in Brook’s leadership abilities and his position in the team structure.
“I have no doubt that Harry Brook will be in the England team, he will have a moment when they win an Ashes series and he will be man of the series. He should do that and I’m confident he will bring white-ball trophies to England, you need your other 10 players but I think he is that good,” Vaughan said on The Overall Cricket. Vaughan’s assessment also extended to Brook’s potential in Test cricket.
The former England ctain suggested that Brook could emerge as the standout performer in a future Ashes series and potentially win the Player of the Series award. Brook is currently ranked No. 2 in the ICC Test batting rankings, which underlines his status as one of the leading batsmen in the format.
The right-handed batter’s growing experience in leadership roles has also made him an increasingly important figure in England’s white-ball plans. He ctained England during the ODI series against Australia in September and had previously served as vice-ctain during the Champions Trophy. These responsibilities have given Brook valuable exposure to high-pressure international cricket while allowing him to develop his leadership skills.
With his ability to score quickly and influence matches, Brook has become a key part of England’s plans across formats. Vaughan’s comments further highlight the expectations surrounding the 27-year-old, who could play a significant role in England’s pursuit of major international titles. He will be seen in action in the triangular series involving Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
