MI London Women struggled in the Hundred last year, finishing last and winning just one of their eight games. It remains to be seen whether Lisa Keightley, who recently left her role as head coach of MI in the WPL, will return as head coach of the women’s team next season. Pollard’s departure means there are two senior coaching positions vacant at The Oval after Surrey men’s head coach Gareth Batty stepped down to take up an assistant coaching role with Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Batty was previously one of Pollard’s assistant coaches at MI London, the franchise Surrey co-owns with Reliance Industries Limited. Surrey is expected to ply for its own new head coach later this year and is likely to allow the successful candidate to work with the Hundred alongside his county duties. Potential candidates could include Azhar Mahmood, the club’s former assistant coach, and current bowling coach Jade Dernbach.
The Hundred retention window opened last week and runs until mid-January, with teams allowed to retain up to 16 players from their 2026 squads at the same price. As announced in September, teams will be allowed to sign a fifth foreign player to their squad next season, although they can still only select four in a given starting XI. Birmingham Phoenix are also looking for a new head coach for the men’s team following the dismissal of Shane Bond last month.
Jonathan Trott is said to be one of the candidates for the vacant position, with interviews scheduled to take place this week. has learned that Kieron Pollard will be stepping down from his role at MI London, largely to take some time off story:1561554+ Hundred – Kieron Pollard is expected to step down as head coach of MI London after serving at Mumbai Indians | has learned that Kieron Pollard will be stepping down from his role at MI London, largely to take some time off. has learned that Kieron Pollard will be stepping down from his role at MI London, largely to take some time off
