N Shree Charani and Kranti Gaud shared seven wickets between them to bowl Zimbabwe out for 197 before Pratika Rawal led the chase with her third ODI century as India romped home with 22.5 overs to spare. Rawal finished on an unbeaten 100 off 96 balls while Shafali Verma blitzed her way to an unbeaten 64 off only 33 balls. Rawal reunited with Smriti Mandhana , who was leading in an ODI for the first time since being pointed full-time ctain and got India off to a flying start.
She was aided by some wayward bowling – Nomvelo Sibanda, standing in for Josephine Nkomo, who was out with a niggle, strayed on the pads repeatedly. India galloped to 48 for 0 in five overs before the spinners started to get the dot balls in. Rawal, who was on 37 off 29 at one point, slowed down a little and got to her fifty off her 54th ball.
She added 94 for the opening wicket with Mandhana, who holed out to long-on in a bid to take on Olinder Chare’s legspin. Then Shafali, batting at No. 3 for only the second time in ODIs, raised India’s scoring rate.
She raced to fifty off just 29 balls despite not getting the benefit of the field restrictions of the first ten overs. She was particularly severe on Chare, scoring 43 off 19 against her. Such was her breakneck scoring speed that it left Rawal just enough runs eventually to complete her century.
With Rawal on 89 and India 32 away, Shafali hit three sixes in an over against Chare that went for 20. Rawal then hit Tendai Makusha for successive fours in the 27th over to bring up her century. Shafali finished the game with a lofted hit over offspinner Nyasha Gwanzura’s head to complete India’s win.
N Shree Charani picked up her first four-for, India vs Zimbabwe, 1st Women’s ODI, Vadodara, October 23, 2026 Zimbabwe had a mixed start to their day. After winning the toss and batting first, they lost opener Loryn Phiri early. Gaud surprised her with a bumper and took a diving catch off her own bowling after she top-edged a pull.
Modester Mupachikwa and Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano then cashed in on any width on offer to help Zimbabwe record 46 for 1 in the first powerplay. Mupachikwa started fluently before losing her way. She benefited from a dropped catch early on when Dee Sharma let one slip off Jintimani Kalita, on her international debut.
Mupachikwa was on 24 off 31 at one point before struggling to get Shree Charani and Dee away. Eventually she tried to hit the left-arm spinner out and miscued to mid-off for 25 off 43. Beloved Biza then kept the scorecard ticking through the middle overs.
But she didn’t get the support at the other end. Gwanzura hung around for a little before belting one straight at Shree Charani. The pair added 43 off 57 balls with Biza doing the heavy lifting.
At 140 for 6 at the start of the 36th over, it looked as if Zimbabwe would fold chely. Michelle Mavunga then injected some momentum with a cameo of 29 off 23. She lofted the first ball she faced over extra cover and also picked the bones out off a Sayali Satghare slower one to send it sailing over deep midwicket.
Since Mandhana led Royal Challengers Bengaluru to their second WPL title earlier this year, the Kotambi Stadium went from being a black-soil pitch to a red-soil one. India not only revelled in those conditions but also ensured an easy start to Mandhana’s ODI ctaincy since assuming the role full-time. Pratika Rawal notched up her fourth ODI century, India vs Zimbabwe, 1st ODI, Vadodara, October 23, 2026 A miscue and that is the end of Mupachikwa’s stay!
Tossed up around off and middle. Mupachikwa couldn’t get away the ball and she went for a desperate attempt. Charges down to go over mid-off but hits it in the air.
Gaud makes no mistake after taking a few steps forward A superb caught and bowled effort from Gaud! Digs it short and just outside off, 107.8kph. Hurries Phiri with that pace.
She only top-edges the pull. Gaud rushes diagonally to her right and pulls off a diving catch. Excellent start from her and India Kranti Gaud’s athletic effort earned her a caught-and-bowled dismissal, India vs Zimbabwe, 1st Women’s ODI, Vadodara, October 23, 2026 Huge peal for lbw!
And India get the umpire’s nod. Mugeri-Tiripano has opted to review. Charani lands it on a length and gets it to spin in.
Mugeri-Tiripano prods forward to defend but is nicely beaten on the inside edge. Did it spin a lot, though? Enough for Zimbabwe to retain their review and India to get their breakthrough.
Clipping the top of leg, and Mugeri-Tiripano has to walk back N Shree Charani struck twice early in her spell, India vs Zimbabwe, 1st Women’s ODI, Vadodara, October 23, 2026 two in two for India, and it’s the big wicket of Biza! Running out of partners, Biza tries to accelerate, but this drivable shot – to a full ball on middle – has instead failed to clear cover. Easy for Mandhana, and Gaud now has three.
She walks back dispointed but can hold her head high. Biza is only 17, remember! Beloved Biza scored her fourth fifty in ODIs, India vs Zimbabwe, 1st Women’s ODI, Vadodara, October 23, 2026 there’s the fourth, and the enterprising Mayers pays the price!
It’s a full ball on off and middle. It was in the slot for Mayers to go over mid-off, but she doesn’t manage to clear the infield. Shot comes off the bottom-half of the bat and Satghare tracks across to her right smartly to take the catch at mid-off.
Mayers was itching to free her arms and she showed some evidence of it earlier in the over, but this time she perishes Charani adds a third – and that’s courtesy a very smart catch! Full, flighted ball around off. Gwanzura offers minimal footwork and tries to hammer a shot over the bowler.
But Gwanzura doesn’t get the elevation, and instead smacks it at waist height to the bowler’s left. Charani’s instincts take over, and she puts her hands to her left. The ball sticks!
And Gaud strikes upon return. Floaty full length outside off, 102.9kph. Dhururu hangs on the back foot but looks to drive it through the off side.
Ends up squeezing it off the inside edge onto the stumps holes out at wide long on! Kalita with her first catch in international cricket and Shree Charani now has four. Flatter delivery, length ball on off.

Length ball from around the wicket, and landing outside off stump. But instead of turning, this one slides in, and trs her on the back foot inside her crease. She misses the defensive shot and the ball hits her knee roll.
Crashing into leg stump, according to technology. Shafali gets her first Zimbabwe are all out for 197 and it’s Dee who gets it with her second wicket. She bowls it slower through the air and gets her reward.
