(Photo Source: Proteas Men) Ce Town Newlands are ready to host the final match of the series between South Africa (SA) and Australia (AUS), starting on Tuesday, October 27. The fifth matchday is scheduled for Saturday, October 31st. The series is currently tied 1-1 after the hosts staged an impressive comeback in the second Test to claim a dramatic win at Gqeberha.
South Africa were completely dominated in the series opener, with the Australians giving it their all and taking an early lead in the three-match series. However, skipper Temba Bavuma’s impressive knock in the second Test better illustrated the fight the Proteas had to put up to reach the levels and made for a temng series decider. Australia, on the other hand, took a commanding 1-0 lead in Durban before going nowhere in the Gqeberha Test.
The team is currently at the top of the World Test Championship 2025-27 points table. A win at Ce Town would all but confirm the Pat Cummins-led side a place in the final to be played at Lord’s, London, in June 2027. The track should have the opportunity to collect points in the first two days.
However, the surface will slow down from the third day onwards and the bowlers are expected to dominate from start to finish. On this surface, batting first could be a wise decision.
