Live Update: Smaran’s fighting century secures RoI and extends his lead to 265. J&K were as frustrated with their unbroken 109-run ninth wicket stand with Mukesh Choudhary as they were with their 21 no-balls. In the company of No. 10 Mukesh Choudhary, he had already extended his lead to 237 when Umar Nazir Mir of J&K came to bowl. Nazir brought it back to southpaw.

He struck Smaran on the pads. The batsman was bowled out at 104. Then the no-ball signal sounded: Smaran had been given a reprieve and remained unbeaten until the end.

At the end of the game, RoI extended their lead to 265 runs with two wickets left to play with. Smaran returned unbeaten with 126 off 131 balls. In total, J&K bowled 21 no-balls in the innings and Nazir bowled 22 in the match alone.

If the previous day’s game had ended with J&K securing a crucial 41-run lead in the first innings thanks to their lower-order comeback, this game ended with RoI fighting their way back into the contest with their unforced errors. RoI was 24 to 1 on the night and came back to bat with the game in fast forward. The pitch supported pace and bounce, which suited J&K’s fast bowlers, who primarily operate in the sub-130 kmph range.

But by the third day the conditions had largely stabilized. Nazir played on one side and Sunil Kumar on the other. They quickly adjusted their lines to play at the end of a length and outside off stump.

At the end of an early attrition session against J&K’s defensive bowling, RoI opener Sanat Sangwan had scored a half-century off 141 balls to keep his team in the contest at 120 for 2. Umar Nazir Mir dismissed Sarfaraz Khan and Rishabh Pant, Jammu & Kashmir vs Rest of India, Irani Cup, Srinagar, October 1, 2026. Fellow opener Shikhar Mohan was dismissed in the first session for a superb fuller throw to Sunil which eluded him. However, the rest of RoI’s first order failed after lunch.

Sudip Kumar Gharami was missing at 33rd place. With a loose blow he cut off his stumps. Then, facing Nazir, Sangwan nibbled on a delivery that hung wide out.

Saransh Jain, bowling all-rounder, was promoted to No.1. 4, played on himself, just two overs later. He had thrown another length throw.

Nazir suddenly had two clever wickets to his name despite having already bowled many no-balls. In fact, the Sangwan and Jain wickets came immediately after a no-ball. Three deliveries after Jain’s dismissal, in the 54th over, Nazir for once needed no introduction.

He asked Sarfaraz Khan to push away a ball that was nibbling from outside. The RoI at this point was 131 to 5. art from J&K’s faulty lines and lengths throughout the day, they also missed chances on the field.

Already in the 38th minute, Shubham Pundir was too deep in the barrier. He gave up one advantage but then failed to secure another because the ball bounced in front of him. After being punished by the other close fielders, Pundir corrected his mistake by melodramatically repositioning himself near the batsman.

Finally he moved back a few meters, towards a better location. Sanat Sangwan lost a century, Delhi vs Puducherry, Ranji Trophy 2025-26, Day 1, Delhi, November 1, 2025. Pundir would not be given a more obvious advantage again, although J&K’s fielders attempted wild shots from distance on out chances and fell victim to their off-ball outburst. However, they still had the advantage due to their lead in the first set.

And the RoI was also effectively several times lower. Her Rishabh Pant clan was feeling bad. He walked out at No.

8, sniffling and coughing. He immediately played wild shots and throws over the line. Shortly after tea, Pant was up and heading to another task on the other side of the finish line.

He failed with 8 off 18 balls, falling to off-spinner Sahil Lotra. Lotra was J&K’s best – and most importantly, most disciplined – bowler of the day. He took 3 for 71 in his 26 overs.

Lotra bowled a fly-and-dive, removing Manav Suthar and Akash Deep on either side of Pant’s dismissal. After Akash Deep’s dismissal, the RoI stood at 197 for 8 with J&K clearly on top. However, they would not take another wicket for the remainder of the third session.

Smaran compiled an unbroken 109-run partnership with Choudhary. J&K went on the defensive as Smaran launched the attack. The hosts had their players stationed near the ropes for most of the game, allowing Smaran to land easy singles.

They would only use tight receiver if Choudhary is on strike again. The strategy did not work in a country where there was little vitality left. As the light faded in Srinagar, Smaran reached his century off just 113 deliveries.

J&K were almost done with their misery soon after when Smaran was hit on the pads in the 104th over of the 90th over. Then Nazir’s most crucial no-ball of the day was announced on the pitch in the form of the fateful buzzer. Smaran took this as a call to speed up.

After reaching his century, he reached 26 from his next 18 deliveries. He danced across the floor and crossed the finish line with abandon. Outside of this short period of time, he had been more careful, but still productive, about his limitations.

During his innings, he hit 15 fours and five sixes. Smaran’s partner Choudhary was on strike towards the end of the day. Part-time spinner Pundir came in and bowled the ball.

Choudhary swung a hit down the middle for his only turnover of the day. Then Samran was back at the goal line. He consulted the umpire to confirm it was the last over and then bowled his final two throws.

He would have tried to ensure his return tomorrow to extend RoI’s considerable lead. By the time he set off with Choudhary towards tree stumps, perhs his work was already done. J&K were as frustrated by their unbroken 109-run ninth wicket stand with Mukesh Choudhary as they were by their 21 no-balls. First success after lunch for Jammu and Kashmir!

And Mohan was disciplined in allowing himself to be lulled by a missed shot. At the peak of his bowling mark, Nasir just signaled his deep square leg to move to the left. Perhs played into the head of Mohan, who expected a short ball and was beaten into the goal area.

Nasir then throws it wide and wide. Mohan could have left it all day. He lies deep in the crease, simply leans back and throws his hands away from his body as he rides.

In the end it just cuts his ass. Luckily for J&K and Nasir, he has his front foot behind the line. Snped! And J&K had a brief scare when the umpire raised his finger late on.

Sunil throws the ball just outside the fourth ball and flicks it away. Sangwan moves it away from the body only because it is tilted outward. But in the end he manages to get forward with very little footwork and give Wadhwan an outside advantage.

J&K cheers at the obvious noise but turns around and sees the unmoved batsman. Until the referee raised his finger. An early goal for the hosts, exactly what they would have wanted after winning the toss. Catching practice for the first slip and Gharami is eliminated from Chely!

Nasir lands way out at 124.5 km/h and punches it away. Gharami stays behind and tries to move it away from the body. Gets a thick outside edge and Samad makes no mistake.

A little more bounce also helped the bowler. A quality first wicket for Nasir and it’s a great way to get on the board!! Caught with one hand by the goalkeeper as he fell down the side of his leg.

Sarfaraz falls after it looked like he was going to score a big hit. But wait, the umpires convene to confirm whether the catch was made cleanly. The first replay from the goalkeeper’s perspective shows that Wadhawan took it well despite juggling the ball.

So Sarfaraz departs. He wanted to hit that short ball that hit the outside leg and finished, with his underhand almost slipping off the bat. Bonus wicket for J&K, I really got it!!

Sliced to short cover. After a few frustrating deliveries, the pants fall down. The man was placed nearby, which is unusual but works for J&K.

He decides to advance down the field again and cuts hard down the middle on that length, opening the face of the bat. But it is hit out of the air and lands perfectly in the hands of the tight defender. Nazir delivers two heavy blows to RoI. A flying catch from Samad in a wide slide ends Smaran’s stay!

Given the marauding mood Smaran was in, he headed the ball wide and wide offside. Gets a strong outside edge and Samad takes it to his left to finish a great shot. End of a practical partnership for the rest of India Jaffa!

Jain is stunned and looks at the stump fixed backwards. Lotra throws it and puts it down. He lands and stands up massively.

Jain pushes forward to pass the ball and plays well inside the line of the ball due to the pike and turn. Then he sees the ball leave the post. The rest of India is collsing again. A diving yorker!

Is there an inside edge? A Sunil starrer, but J&K thinks a lot before reviewing. He floats it completely and swings it to hit Suthar on his front toe, which is adjacent to the stumps.

The only question is whether there is a bat involved. Bat hits pad, not the ball. Eyes trained on tracking the ball, which meant it would hit the leg.

Sunil took a lot more wickets with his bowling today but here is his second one so far. Suthar is massively dispointed about this and hangs around over tea on the first day. Clean catch from Samad and he makes up for the loss from a few overs ago.

Thrown straight outside, an additional steal that Akash Deep can’t resist. It pears to grow large on the outside but has a thick outer edge. He moves quickly to the left of the first slip where Samad quickly goes to the pocket.

The end of the 39-point score knocked him to the ground!! Choudhary leaves the first ball after a drink. Sunil has his third wicket.

He throws this to a length and swings it to the left batsman. Choudhary had great swing as he swung his bat almost blindly. The ball crashed into the stumps but it went away!!

Choudhary had great swing as he swung his bat almost blindly. The ball crashed into the stumps from the sharp rebound and was caught behind! Iqbal doesn’t think he managed to win and criticizes.

Choudhary makes it short and the ball ends up just outside leg. Iqbal runs down the lane within the line of the ball and then jumps to try to push it away. He is obviously surprised.

His bottom hand comes loose, but the ball grazes the left glove holding the bat. Snicko proves it and Iqbal gives his marching orders. J&K slips further and also loses a review. Pant celebrates a caught chance, but the umpire remains unmoved.

And Pant reviews . Choudhary flicked the ball a length and just outside. There was no movement off the field.

Pundir blocked, very close with his bat and pad. So was Pant convinced because the bat hit the pad? We’ll know soon.

The third umpire reviews the replays and observes a second rise on UltraEdge as the ball also touches the outside edge after the bat hits the pad. Pundir falls as J&K loses their first set which is gobbled up by Pant!! He casually throws the ball away after taking it.

A tame dismissal in the end. Akash Deep bowled a short ball to middle and outside off and Nazir seemed to move out of the way. But he ended up swinging his bat horizontally.

The ball reached the top edge and flew to Pant, who stepped forward and took a simple catch. A butcher and it’s almost a repeat of the previous ball that gets rid of Khajuria! Choudhary throws it a little fuller and further, sets it down and makes it move in a single movement. Khajuria puts her front foot forward again and hits her racket away from her body in defense.

Ends up reaching out. An inward movement means that the ball deviates from the inside edge towards the stumps. Early wicket for the rest of India and the challenge for Jammu and Kashmir becomes more difficult. Out of?

The skier was caught in the deep, thin leg. DOGRA has been gone for 75 years, Choudhary for five years! Halfway length on middle.

Dogra was at the goal line, jumped back and shot. I wanted to hit it into the ground, maybe just behind the square, but the top edge brought it up. The ball went straight to the defender.

Skip gets a pat on the back after bringing his condition closer to parity. This is the breakthrough! A soft dismissal and Samad would blame himself. Mukesh lands the ball just outside the offside and makes it a little away.

Invites you to drive, even if it’s not exactly a driving length. Samad pushes it hard, catching a thick outside edge that heads towards Sangwan at the gully where he takes it with a dive to the right. End of 101 partnership with J&K, now 99 behind.

It’s eerily similar now to yesterday – half-centurion Mohan comes out in the second after lunch. A fourth wicket for Choudhary and he roars in celebration! Wadhawan’s hesitation costs him dearly, but the umpires want to be sure the catch is successful. It hits him full length in the middle and outside and at an angle.

Wadhawan steps forward and just hooks his bat to get it past the rope. In the end he only pockets it until the first slip, where Smaran presses it under the ball with his fingers. Some replays confirm that he had his fingers under it and didn’t touch it.

A long and nervous wait for Wadhawan’s results with an unfavorable outcome for him. Huge chime and gift! Mushtaq immediately criticizes and I think he threw the outside leg. Mukesh bowls it full leg and it swings on.

Mushtaq returns a hook to cut it off but is hit on the inside edge and quite low on the front pad. The pitches were right on the line, but they would have swung and cut through the stumps, the ball tracking shows. The umpire calls and Mushtaq has to step back for a two-ball blob, although J&K remain behind. Gully is close and the ball goes straight to him!

Sangwan had to take a step back, carried by the momentum of the ball. Took it around the belly. There was a floating half volley right outside the door.

Lotra went for the full blow, but hit it too late, so RoI was over 50 points ahead and could now put Plumb in the lead! A touch of backwards momentum in the game. Oh, Nasir knows he’s done and backs away, but then he remembers he can use DRS.

Akash Deep presents this, a touch of inner movement. Nasir stands rooted to the goal area and tries to get the ball over the line with his bat turned towards the middle. The ball misses and is hit low on the right knee.

Chasing the ball is a mere formality as it brings back three reds. Don’t take anything away from this Nasir counterattack. With this, J&K finished with a lead of 41 points. This is the breakthrough!

Don’t take anything away from this Nasir counterattack. With this, J&K finished with a lead of 41 points. Sunil Kumar makes the breakthrough with some excellent swing bowling. Hitting it at a distance just outside 75 mph will throw it even further away.

Mohan doesn’t actually have to play it, but since Sunil can also play the ball back, he hangs his bat on it. Gets a thick outside edge and Wadhawan sinks it with a dive to the left. The RoI is still behind by 33 and gone!

And J&K has finally made a breakthrough! Well, all his teammates hope he didn’t go too far this time because this is a reward for his cleanliness. On a back length outside.

A hint of nibbling dispears and Sangwan can’t help but feel it. A good cut and the goalkeeper swallows it. No balls have been called either, so now J&K and its faithful can celebrate!

J&K have their breakthrough! Gharami really makes an incredibly easy shot. He was out for a long time, has good bounce but not enough for Gharami to get this throw through the line, perhs in anticipation of a shorter ball.

Inside edge ricochets right into his stumps… He had bedded in here but has a loss of patience or judgement, maybe both, and he has to depart now… chopped on, and Nazir is turning this match on its head!

Barring the No balls, this has been a brilliant spell either side of lunch. Absolutely nothing in terms of freebies to work with, so Saransh tries to manufacture something. In the channel and on a back of a length, and Saransh tries to dab it away.

Not enough conviction in the shot, though, and the ball may have nipped in a trifle too. Off the inside edge and onto the stumps. Nazir has two, and RoI in a spot of bother now!

oh my word – Nazir is ripping through RoI now! And this is beautiful, beautiful bowling. Back of a length in that nagging corridor just outside off.

A bit of jag away and Sarfaraz, caught on the crease, fences at it without much footwork. Healthy edge and slip dives to his left to snare the chance. Nazir has two in the over, and three in the spell, and J&K truly in the ascendancy now!

no need for DRS with this, and Smaran’s heroic vigil comes to an end! Hard length on off, and this seams back in too. Smaran, knowing time might be running out, looks for something ambitious.

He has a swipe across the line but the ball keeps a tad low to squirm under his bat. Leg stump knocked back, and that is the end of the ROI innings. What a knock by Smaran, though.

His teammates plaud as he walks off, and the J&K fielders and support staff join in too. J&K will now need 279 to win the Irani Cup! Big peals and Sahil will finally re his reward for the consistent line-and-length he’s bowled!

Floated up and flattening into the stumps-line, Suthar goes for a defense but the bat rifles in past his inside edge, rs him on the pads. The umpire deems it out instantly. But Suthar reviews!

All three reds, though, was plumb in the end, and Suthar’s patient knock – with entertainment in parts – ends here thumped on the pad, and that will be that for Pant! Back of a length just outside off. This keeps low and also comes in with the arm.

Pant has a swipe at it but misses it completely. Pinged on the back leg, and that was heading nowhere but into the stumps. RoI lose their skipper, and sink further into the quicksand!

and Akash Deep could not have picked out short mid wicket better! A bit of flight on a length on middle and leg. Akash Deep’s eyes light up and he swings for the hills.

The bat face, though, closes upon impact and he arrows it to Khajuria, who makes no mistake. ROI now eight down! Oh dear – what have you done, Mukesh Choudhary!

A rush of blood, to put it mildly. Angled in on a length on middle and off. Choudhary takes a step down and then tries to hit it into next week.

Loses his she completely and loses his stumps soon after. Not sure what he was thinking hacking across the line agriculturally, but this mammoth ninth-wicket stand has now been broken! nicked and gone!

And J&K have finally broken through! Well, all of his teammates will hope he has not overstepped this time, because this is a reward for the tidiness. On a back of a length outside off.

A hint of nibble away and Sangwan cannot help but feel for it. A healthy nick, and the keeper gobbles it up. No Ball not called either, so J&K and their faithful can now celebrate!

Nazir has two in the over, and three in the spell, and J&K truly in the ascendancy now! Sunil Kumar provides the breakthrough with some superb swing bowling. Lands it on a length just outside off, 123.4kph, gets it to swing further away.

Mohan doesn’t really need to play it but because of Sunil’s ability to also move the ball back in, he hangs his bat at it. Gets a thick oustide edge and Wadhawan pouches it with a dive to his left. RoI still trail by 33 Oh dear – what have you done, Mukesh Choudhary!

Was length outside off, has some great bounce on this but not nearly enough for Gharami to swat this delivery across the line expecting a shorter ball, maybe. Inside edge ricochets right into his stumps… He had bedded in here but has a loss of patience or judgement, maybe both, and he has to depart now…

That’s the only question, I guess. Oh, that looks mighty close. Akash Deep goes wide of the crease and lands the ball on a length on off.

Iqbal shuffles right across and eyes a heave. He misses and is struck in front. What does the ball tracker say?

Pitches on off, hit in front of off stump, and the ball is just clipping the outer part of leg stump. Umpire’s call it is and Iqbal has to walk off nicked and gone, and this is a dream start for RoI! Full outside off, and this is a proper tempter.

Khajuria gets tempted into the drive but does so without the requisite footwork. The ball nips away just a smidgen and kisses the outside edge. Juyal, on as a sub keeper, gobbles it up, and J&K are in a spot of bother now!

On a length that lands on middle and leg and tails away ever so late. Dogra is turned square as the ball evades his outside edge and thuds into the middle stump. Mukesh is on a celebratory run and why not.

RoI are right back in this. another edge, and the wheels are falling off now! Rattled in very full just outside off.

Samad looks to dig it out into the off side, and all he manages is a thick outside edge. Second slip makes no mistake low to his left, and a distraught Samad has to trudge off. Is that the game?

edged again, and taken again! Length ball outside off. Wadhawan goes feeling for it and does so without any footwork.

There is a bit of movement off the pitch and that is enough to kiss the outside edge. Simple take for Juyal, and half of the J&K side is now back in the shed! massive, massive caught-behind peal, but umpire Akshay Totre says no!

Rest of India review! Back of a length in the channel. Wadhawan does not know whether to leave it or play at it.

In the end, he nibbles without much conviction. RoI think there is bat invovled. Umpire, obviously, did not share that opinion.
