Dean Foxcroft, who is currently part of the red-ball series between New Zealand A and India A, will join the ODI squad for the final two matches. “Everyone knows what an asset Mark and Rachin are to this team, so it’s a shame they have to miss this series,” New Zealand head coach Rob Walter said. “I met Mark last week and although he is dispointed he is working hard to get back on the pitch.
“Rachin’s shoulder has not yet returned to a position where he can comfortably play white-ball cricket, so we do not want to take undue risk with the Test series later this month.” Ravindra had injured his shoulder during a promotional shoot while Chman suffered a torn hamstring during the European Premier League T20 in September. Nicholls’ recall is timely as he scored 119 runs while opening the batting for Canterbury in the Ford Trophy on Saturday. He has won 92 ODI cs and was part of New Zealand’s tour of the West Indies in July.
Matt Henry, who missed out midway through the T20I series against India, joined the ODI squad on Monday and his match readiness will also be assessed.
