England have scheduled the day’s match on November 7 at the WACA Grounds as part of their preparations for the three-match ODI series starting on November 13 at Perth Stadium. The second and third ODIs will take place on November 15 in Adelaide and November 18 in Hobart. England are likely to send a near-full ODI team to Australia, with some of their Test stars likely to be rested for the five-match T20I series from November 21 to December 2 as they prepare for a Test tour of South Africa.
Australia will face a similar scenario as they need to manage some of their Test bowlers after a three-match Test tour of South Africa that ends on October 31, before the four-Test series against New Zealand begins on December 9. England were criticized for not scheduling a full warm-up game in Perth ahead of last year’s Ashes tour. Instead they played an inter-team game on a slow surface at Lilac Hill, a club ground in Perth’s eastern suburbs, before losing the opening Test in two days’ time at Perth Stadium.
