The team will play a six-match T20 series against the Cricorn Eagles, Cricket Namibia’s women’s national team. The team leaves Dublin on October 21st. Alice Tector was put in charge of the tour.
Head coach Nigel Jones has overseen the selection, which includes players with U19 World Cup experience, several young players making a strong impression and six members who remain eligible to play for the next World Cup cycle. Also included are two Irish passport holders who have been closely monitored and have already joined the squad in the training environment. “We’re really hpy with the balance of this team.
We have players with U19 World Cup experience, several talented young players who continue to make an impact and six players who remain eligible for the next World Cup cycle. We are also pleased to welcome two Irish passport holders who have been closely monitored and have already joined us in training environments. “The coming months represent an exciting opportunity for the group.
The tour to Namibia will be an important part of our preparation and we look forward to seeing the players come together, challenge each other and continue to raise standards as we move towards the ICC Women’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup in January,” Jones said recently. Why is this tour of Namibia important for the Ireland U19 national team? The series will provide Irish management with a structured competitive environment to assess squad strength ahead of the ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup in January 2027.
This tournament is co-hosted by Bangladesh and Nepal and brings together 16 participating nations. The mix of experienced and up-and-coming players on the tour means Jones can evaluate combinations and build familiarity within the group ahead of the global event. The addition of two Irish passport holders will also expand the talent pool available to the program in the future.
Where and when will the T20 matches take place in Namibia? Four of the six games at the Namibia Cricket Ground have been confirmed and are scheduled for October 25, 26, 28 and 31, 2026. The team leaves Dublin on October 21st to give the players time to acclimatize before the opening game.
